TBG & Maryland SPCA
The Maryland SPCA approached TBG (The Berndt Group) to work on its website redesign which was duly needed and needed to tie in with a new branding endeavor.
The original website had been developed by volunteer resources that were no longer involved with the SPCA, and while serving its informational purpose for some time, the site no longer represented the organization or could not be used as a illustrative marketing piece—the site needed to reflect the vibrant, friendly, and professional shelter that many in the greater Baltimore area have come to know and respect.
The new design incorporated a new brand identity, striking visual elements, including vibrant colors, emotionally resonant imagery, and improved usability. A key goal of the graphic design was to reflect the happy experience of adopting a pet, as well as providing extensive information on a variety on other pet-related topics. A more prominent education section was also emphasized on the new site. The photo tour featured the welcoming environment that the shelter offers to pets and potential and current pet owners. The high impact photography on the site featured real shelter pets and was used throughout the site to emotionally resonate with new potential pet owners. The clean design and easy navigation of the site projected a more modern, sophisticated, and accessible image for the organization.
Noteworthy features of the site included:
- two live pet cams;
- a "Dog Quiz" to help potential pet owners identify what type of dog best fit their lifestyle (this also tied in with actual character traits of adoptable dogs at the shelter); and
- seamless integration with a 3rd party vendor for an Adoption database.
TBG won a number of awards for this site, including a Horizon Award, WebAward and an International Summit Creative Award.
